If you live in or near Manchester, this post is one for you. I lived in Manchester for 3 years whilst at uni and when I went back to visit last weekend we ended up at The Laundrette for lunch. I forgot how much I love Chorlton Green for quirky cafes, pubs and restaurants. It’s a small village south of the city centre, if you haven’t been I would definitely recommend it!
If you hadn’t guessed, The Laundrette is based on the idea of, well a laudrette. It’s menu titles incorporate different types of washes, and washing symbols. The decor is what I would call ‘shabby chic’ and drinks are served in unconventional glasses(anyone else a sucker for this?!) They offer what they describe as ‘cocktails and carbs’ which I’d say is pretty accurate. Although if you’re looking for something slightly healthier there’s the option of a ‘small load’ (small starter like portion), ‘easy care’ which includes a few salads and gluten free options too.
With quite a big menu I would say there’s something for everyone. I went for the pesto chicken pizza this time and an iced latte, both of which were ah-mazing. The bar offers a huge variety of cocktails too, making it an ideal spot for evening drinks.
The large outside seating space complete with huge heaters mean it’s perfect in Spring/Summer time, even in the unpredictable UK weather!
If you’re a student living in the Fallowfield area this isn’t far from there, much easier than the trek into the city. Although for those closer to the centre, there’s another ‘Laundrette’ there!
