One of the big trends cropping up this summer is women’s suits. I first saw one of my fave bloggers, Liv Blankson wearing one from New Look and looking so sassy, so naturally, I had to get myself one… I’ve since seen bloggers wearing them all over the ‘gram and love the look. It’s definitely not for the faint-hearted as it is a fairly bold look but personally those kind of looks are always my favourite. There’s something about the shorts that make the suit less formal yet still sassy and equally dressy. It’s a look that has ‘London’ written all over it but given enough confidence you can definitely wear it anywhere. It’s one that’s perfect for the British summer as the blazer keeps you slightly warmer and more covered up in the chillier weather. Although I wouldn’t mind a bit less rain and a little more sunshine!
The great thing about buying a suit is you basically have 3 outfits. We all know blazers are becoming a staple for the Autumn season; wear the blazer with a slogan tee and some ripped denim and you have the perfect ‘laid back brunch outfit’ or, these shorts with a strappy bodysuit and sliders for a holiday look. And of course for a full on sassy, ‘I mean business’ kind of vibe go for the set. In terms of how to wear it as a suit, keeping it simple is the way to go. The suit does all the talking so no need to over complicate it. A plain white tee or cami (this one is a silk cami from Lily Silk) and some simple jewellery is enough to complete the outfit. This white silk cami is such a wardrobe staple – simple yet such a luxurious fabric it adds some depth to the outfit. You can get a 16% discount with my code: kirstyeelizabeth. Personally I think boots finish it off and make it more appropriate for this British weather should a sudden downpour occur, plus obviously they make your legs look longer, so win/win. I nearly didn’t buy these cream boots from Stradivarius as I wasn’t sure I’d get much wear from them. But trust me on this, a cream pair of boots is exactly what your wardrobe is missing – I’ve worn them so much!
I’m so obsessed with these Celine dupes (I mean look at them, they’re identical) but typical, I’ve just been on ASOS and they’re sold out! Keep your eyes peeled though as you know what ASOS are like- they could come back next week!
