If you follow even a single blogger on Instagram you will have seen the beautifully muted pink walls and furnishings that make up the Gallery room in Sketch.  You’ll also more than likely have seen the, just as famous, egg shaped toilets. If not, pretend you know what I’m on about and quickly get yourself up-to-date with a quick Insta stalk. An afternoon tea at Sketch is much coveted by many and I for one am guilty of booking in purely because of the amazing photos I’ve seen pop up time and time again on my Instagram feed.

Last weekend we went along to Sketch for afternoon tea for my friends birthday; you can choose to have this with tea or fizzy. The room lived up to all expectations, perfectly pink with a large rose gold bar, cute crockery and quirky prints covering the walls. The toilets were just as they look in the pictures, completely white with individual egg shaped toilets, a complete gimmick but great for a selfie. The food came out very quickly, an array of colours, impeccably presented and more than you could fit all in one sitting (they offer doggy bags FYI). With a variety of sandwiches I’d say there’s at least one you’re bound not to like *unless you’re the least fussy person ever!*. The salmon caviar definitely wasn’t my thing- but maybe I’m not cultured enough for this?! The highlight for me was the scones, served hot with strawberry or fig jam and clotted cream. The desserts are all very posh with names you’ve never heard of and decorated with garnishing you couldn’t quite work out. Overall I probably ate and actually enjoyed 2-and-a-bit of the 5 desserts.

Food aside, you can expect great service.. with a side of hurrying. They are extremely busy and do specify when you book that you have the table for 2 hours. But after just over an hour at the table we we’re brought our bill along with the card machine and a waitress ready to take payment whether we were ready or not! Efficient or rude, I’ll leave that one to you.

So what’s the verdict? Yes, the decor is pretty amazing and you will be sure to get some ‘instagrammable’ photos here, but is it really worth the £50 price tag? That’s £50 for a sober lunch by the way… yea, I mean like, sippin’ on tea…

All said and done, it’s one of those cool London hotspots that you get fomo for if you’ve never been. But I’m going to make possibly the most controversial statement any blogger has made about Sketch and say, I think it’s overrated!

Still got fomo? (Don’t blame you)… Book your table at Sketch here.

(Expect a long reservation wait. You can only book up to one month in advance so if you have a date in mind make sure you call up exactly one month earlier!)

Just wondering (as im booking my friends hen at sketch) what does the £58 include food wise? Did you get the while platter to yourself or did you have to share it? I’ve tried to look on their website but i cant seem to find a answer to this :/

      Hi Kim,

I went with 2 friends so the 6th picture of the platter, that whole stand was for me! The photo which is below that one has double to food on and my 2 friends shared.
I believe for 1 person it was 5 sandwiches, 6 deserts and a scone!

      Hope this helps 🙂
      xx
