If you didn’t know, part of my job (my full-time job) is blogger outreach. Recently, I was in talks with a blogger about a collaboration on her Instagram and blog. She bluntly told me that she doesn’t write on her blog anymore as blogs are dead and Instagram has taken over.
This left me a little taken aback, being such a lover of my own blog I couldn’t imagine not having it anymore. But it is true that things evolve and move on.. remember the days of Bebo or Myspace?! (If you can remember your account login, go have yourself a laugh!) I am definitely part of the generation of Facebook, but it’s safe to say this has lost popularity over the years too. I personally have deleted the app from my phone (more of a storage issue) and it’s never my go-to for a lunch-time browse. I know a lot of people still regularly use Facebook but it’s nothing compared with what it was. More of a place to find hysterical memes and tag your friends. This did get me thinking, was this blogger right?! Are blogs dead?
Personally I don’t have enough courage to become a Youtuber, but perhaps this is where it is heading? Working in Social media, I can tell you that video content has grown enormously in popularity and (especially for brands) it’s a must for engagement and capturing the attention of consumers. Slightly irrelevant tangent but the point is, we do live in a lazy culture and perhaps consumers can’t be bothered to read anymore? Is clicking off Instagram/ Twitter to go to another site and read a wholeee blog post, just too much effort?
I do understand that those ‘bloggers’ who simply post an outfit on their site along with a short text which tells you how much they love it is a bit irrelevant – perhaps this is a dying breed. After all, with Instagrams multiple photo option, why bother moving platform to see a couple of extra pictures?
However for those who cover a number of topics on their blog and tell a story with their writing, (some of my favourites include Chloe Plumstead, Sophie Milner and Victoria McGrath) I feel strongly that this definitely can’t be replaced with a lengthy Instagram caption or even a Youtube video. In my opinion anyway… There’s something about the written word that I love.
What do you think?! Are blogs a dying breed? Would love to hear your opinion!
On another note, I’m obsessed with these trousers from Topshop. I was looking for a pair for ages that I could wear to work with a blouse but equally dress up at the weekend, and I think I finally found them! Whole outfit linked below.

I have definitely been thinking about this a lot recently! And I think that girl might be right! I do find myself watching more videos than reading that same influencers’ blog posts. It’s sad, but I think it is definitely how things are going. If brands get in contact with me and ask – ‘Instagram or blog post?’ I usually advise them choosing an IG as that’s where all/most of my audience is! That being said, the title of this post (found on your IG) drew me in and I was excited to read. And my comments are never THIS long! Good post girl! Have a great Saturday 😘

Hmm I know what you mean, I just struggle to let blog posts go! Haha. It’s interesting hearing what others think though! Thanks Emma 🙂 x
Yeah no I don’t think blog posts should go completely, but I don’t definitely don’t post as much anymore xx
Please don’t tell me blogs are dying, I’ve just started 1 month ago, haha! What exactly does blogger outreach mean? I love your outfit!
Have a lovely day,
xx Kris

I hope they’re not Kris! Blogger outreach is when (as a brand) you find/reach out to bloggers you want to collaborate with!
Good luck with your blog 🙂 xx
i don’t really see blogs dying to be fair. its more of a cult thing whilst youtube and instagram change so quickly. instagram became so unattractive to me when their changed the way posts show up. that wasn’t a smart move.
