Winter Trends Round Up

Before we hit LFW and all the new trends start emerging I thought I would do a round up of my favourite trends of the winter season so far. Whilst staple non trend-led pieces are some of my favourite, I may have become a slave to just a few of these trends this season! In particular I hope these 9 hang around a little longer.

  1. Fishnets – One of the newer trends to emerge. Details can really make an outfit and essentially this is another way to add extra detail, hence I’m all aboard this one. Worn as socks with ankle grazers and loafers, or tights peeking through ripped jeans, I love it.
  2. Fur – Long live the faux fur trend. I hope this one never goes out of fashion, add a huge faux fur coat to boyfriend jeans and a tee and you have instant glam. I’m particularly loving the hues of emerald green circulating in extra fluffy form (think Sully from Monsters inc.) – still deciding whether I’d get enough wear to make it worth the investment though. Thoughts?
  3.  Extreme oversizing. The queen of man repellent trends, if there ever was one.
  4. Loafers. We’ve all seen the Gucci loafers (or own, if you’re lucky enough) but there are so many dupes around plus variations of their own. Personally backless loafers had me at hello. I’m just not brave enough to bear the cold feet yet.
  5. Leopard Print – Combine this one with trend 2. and I think we’ve found my favourite winter wardrobe piece.
  6. Over The Knee boots. I’m sure this has been made pretty clear if you read my blog (or even browse the pictures!) as I can’t seem to get enough of wearing them. Never mind as a fashion piece, they are such a useful wardrobe staple when it’s this freezing!
  7. Frills. They speak for themselves. This is one I took longer to warm up to as I’m usually a no-frills kinda gal but on those days you’re feeling extra girly, reach for something frilled and you can do no wrong.
  8. Layering. While everyone’s buying jumpers I’ve been buying the (on sale) camisoles, lacey tops and tees – building up my ‘layering’ pieces to wear under the jumpers I currently live in. As mentioned in 1., details bring a look to life and can stop the inevitable jumper routine becoming too boring.
  9. Distressed denim. Now I know this is nothing new, distressed denim has been around forever but this season was all about the hems. We had raw hems, stepped hems, uneven-ripped hems.. Plus this one is so easy to DIY, it gets bonus points from me.
