The IT colour for Spring- PINK | Trend isn’t a dirty word.

Now let me just explain something before I get into this post. I don’t wear pink. Like, ever. It clashes with my hair, it’s so overly girly and don’t even get me started on pink against my fair skin.

BUT since pink has become a huge trend of late I have been completely, unintentionally brainwashed into loving it. I’ve found myself ‘liking’ all things pink when it comes to style posts on the ‘gram and consequently it has finally wormed its way into my wardrobe. So there’s no going back.

“The word trend isn’t a dirty word.”

As I write about my hate for pink all the while showcasing myself wearing a very pink shirt I can hear the voices of those telling me I shouldn’t wear things I don’t like just because it’s a trend. But that is exactly the thing, I don’t hate pink anymore. In fact I actually quite like it on myself now. Yes, it is 100% a decision that’s come about due to a trend that is currently floating around the fashion world but that’s OK. The word ~trend~ isn’t a dirty word.

“Trendy is the last stage before tacky.”

Karl Lagerfeld

That old famous quote, plastered around on prints and canvas’s and Instagram feeds. However I want to question this, after all doesn’t Karl himself rely on all of us taking up these trends in order to sell out certain products?! Those fashion savvy among us will pick them up first, broadcasting the trend over the internet, to our peers and in the streets. This will eventually translate into thousands, nay millions of people also falling for that one trend. But the thought that this makes you tacky, I think, is ridiculous. That’s not saying that it isn’t possible to look tacky wearing the latest trends. When a trend starts to circulate, all the retailers jump on the bandwagon competing with each other over price, reworking the same trend over and over and this is when it can start looking cheap. Personally I think as long as you pick and chose your trends according to what you grow to like, or what you like instantly rather than picking up every latest trend just ‘cos, then there’s nothing tacky about it.

So in love with your look! If you had asked me a couple of years ago if I liked pink, my answer would have been a hard no, but like you said, now I can’t get enough of it. I think that the pink actually looks really cool against your red hair! 🙂
