Trending: The Baker Boy Hat

I always think finishing touches are what makes an outfit. Whenever I throw this Zara coat on it gives my outfit a touch of sophistication (I’ll take all I can get). And now whenever I add this baker boy hat, I feel a lot more put together. A structured masculine coat is definitely something I think is worth investing in as it’s a timeless style which is great for both day and evening wear.

The majority of this outfit is my go-to, casual, easy-peasy look. All black – slimming, straight leg jeans – balance out my hips (#pearshapedprobs), oversized shirt – cool/ effortless and then there’s the baker boy hat. Now this is well and truly out of my comfort zone. Or it was, until about a week ago when it apparently became glued to my head. Taking inspiration from one of my favourite bloggers Chloe Plumstead , I banished the self-conscious thoughts that run through my head when purchasing pieces such as these. * Everyone will stare wondering WTH I’m wearing*. But I’m so glad I ignored them as it’s fast become my favourite purchase of the year.

The baker hat I actually wanted was out of stock as per usual (looking at you ASOS) and this one is a slightly different shape. It’s much squarer at the back which isn’t what I was looking for and so, I tweaked it slightly – knew that A level in Textiles would come in handy one day..

I’ve been rather uninspired lately with fashion and writing and whilst this outfit probably screams uninspired, it’s the little things that sometimes give us the boost we need and this hat inspired me to think outside the box again.

After a weekend of browsing, shopping and brainstorming I feel refreshed with tonnes of new content ideas and a huge delivery or 2.. okay 3, on their way to me to refresh my wardrobe! I’ve taken some chances on new styles and I’m looking forward to playing around with some new looks.
