February Favourites / favourite products of the month including Mac fleshpot and really me lipsticks Rayban sunglasses Kerastase hair oil and conditioner olympus 50mm lens and l'oreal steampod

It’s been waaaay too long since I did a proper beauty post (call myself a fashion and beauty blogger?!) so I thought I would write about my absolute favourite beauty products, plus a couple of general favourites thrown in for good measure. In the words of Jaclyn Hill (beauty Youtuber royalty, if you don’t know, get in the know) these are my absolute ride or die products that I couldn’t live without. So if you’re in the market for some new beauty products or you want some recommendations have a little scroll…

Round Metal frame Raybans

Kicking it off with a couple of non-beauty favourites, as I couldn’t do a favourites post without these.  While everyone on the planet has these round metal Raybans, I love them all the same. So flattering and with the dark lenses they are great for both summer and winter. So if you love to wear sunglasses even when it’s not warm in the slightest ~let’s face it if you live in the UK this is 99% of the time~ these are perfect for you.

Mac Lipsticks

The first non-drugstore (pharmacy for us Brits?!) make up product I ever bought was a Mac lipstick; so attainable yet it still seemed so high-end and left me feeling like a proper grown-up. I still love Mac lipsticks and in fact I think they are some of the best lipsticks out there. These 2 are my ~won’t-leave-the-house-without-them~ lipsticks. Namely ‘Fleshpot’ and ‘Really Me’. We’ve all heard of the cult Mac lippys ‘Velvet Teddy’ and ‘Honey Love’ but if you’re slightly paler or those just don’t float your boat give these two a try. Fleshpot is a pink nude colour and a satin finish where as Really Me is a purple-ish nude with a pure matt finish. They work well on their own or equally well mixed for an ombrè effect.

Mac Mineralise Skin Finish Powder

Moving on to another of my absolute favourite Mac products (duh, it’s a ‘favourites’ post). The mineralise skin finish powders. These are the best powders I have ever tried; so creamy, smooth and blendable. I love this shade as it is the perfect colour for bronzer for me. You may have heard of a lot of people using the Mac ‘Give me Sun’ Mineralise skin finish. Well if like me, one look at it’s deep orange colour turned you away instantly then try this one instead. It’s in shade ‘Dark Golden’ and is a touch cooler and lighter than Give me sun.

Kiko Extra Sculpt Volume Mascara

Kiko is an Italian brand not so well known over here but it’s one worth noting as their makeup has formulas similar to the likes of Mac, Nars and Bobbi Brown (as well as the sleek packaging) without the hefty price tag. The product I would recommend the most from their entire range is this extra sculpt volume mascara. I was introduced to this by beauty Youtuber Kathleen Lights and while I was slightly put off by the shape of the wand, Kathleen raves about it so I gave it a go. And I’m so glad I did! It’s a great consistency, not too liquid-ey and gives both length and serious volume. I get compliments on my eyelashes every time I wear it so I couldn’t recommend it more.

Kèrastase Nutritive Masque Magistral

kerastase extra dry intensive hair conditioner

My hair is extremely dry and textured and so I use a lot of hair masques. This one in particular is an absolute favourite of mine. I believe with conditioners and masques you really do get what you pay for. I’ve tried cheaper alternatives and I would advise saving your money and purchasing from the Kèrastase selection instead. This Nutritive Masque Magistral is for ‘severely dried out, thick hair’ although they do many for every different hair type. It’s a very thick, almost rubbery texture and once washed out, you can really feel it has coated each hair strand, without feeling heavy or greasy but whilst controlling frizz and protecting your hair. It brings my hair back to life and allows my curls the bounce without the frizz.

Olympus Pen 45mm lens

For anyone with an Olympus pen camera or just looking to get a good camera, you need this lens. It is a million times better than the kit lens, it gives your pictures so much depth of field, blurry backgrounds and crystal clear images – all that good stuff!

The L’oreal Steampod

The L’oreal Steampod. The best hair tool I’ve ever laid my hands on. This makes my hair the smoothest and bounciest it has ever been. If you’re in the market for some new straighteners, curlers or you have extremely frizzy/curly/unruly hair, this is your guy. Need to know more? Have a read of my full review.

Aussie Miracle Dry Shampoo

If you are an avid dry shampoo user, you need to try the Aussie Miracle Dry Shampoo. Honestly, as I was spraying it in my hair for the first time my initial thought was, this is utter crap. When you spray it in, it almost looks like hairspray – completely colourless and slightly shiny and wet looking. (As you may know) when you’re on day 3 hair the last thing you want is more greasy-ness. But give it a couple of minutes and magically, the clear greasy shine turns to matt powder which of course soaks up any oils and refreshes your hair. There really is no white residue and it also smells great. Amazing.
